Cow Parsley and Aquilegias always remind me of Chelsea Flower Show but fashions change and a new combination will no doubt emerge. Alliums are another Chelsea favourite.
Press Day is a great day for photographers to see and photograph pristine plants, all polished and tidy for the judging. With the celebrities milling about you might think this is really a jolly day out but it is exhausting. I used to be there for 5am but and would have to be finished by 3pm for the Queen’s visit. Leaving home at 3am followed by a mad rush round trying to different shots from the other photographers and dodging the TV crews who will happily move you on just as I set up ‘the shot’. Sounds all very glamorous but it’s not. I am usually dead on my feet and saying ‘never again….
Until it all comes around again. I am now there at a more leisurely 7am and more relaxed. Attracted by those pristine plants, sumptuous gardens and meeting up with friends and colleagues, I am sufficiently powered up and ready to hit it again..
That is the Power of Plants.
