Breaking the Rules

Helleborus I normally do not like taking dark pictures and I always use a tripod possibly due to perceived commercial restraints and the simple fact the resulting images were never sharp.

While setting up another shot the lovely light on this Hellebore caught my eye. Knowing it would have gone by the time I played about with my tripod, I grabbed it 'freehand'. It was sharp AND I liked the darkness.

There is a wonderful creative purity about taking pictures handheld instinctively, without thinking too much about it, and it something I like to do with my iPhone. The image stabilisation on this lens is good and the technical bits all happened to make it work so now it will be re-instated back into the creative 'toolbox'.
